Passivation

What We Do

Passivation

Passivation improves the corrosion resistance properties of stainless steel and titanium components by dissolving iron or other impurities that has been imbedded in the surface during forming or machining.

Hillock offers numerous passivation processes (nitric acid, nitric acid & chromic acid, citric acid) to ensure all customers parts can receive the passivation process. Extensive R&D has resulted in a robust process for the most difficult of alloys, such as 416 and 440C.

Our passivate line contains three ultrasonic cleaners and a closed loop deionized water rinse system to ensure defect free passivation. Effectiveness of passivation is verified in house with a Water Immersion Tester (24 hour test) or copper sulfate (OEM specified – immediate results).
